Some here are a bit early

to judge the actions of the fledgling administration. Dennis Conner, captain of the Stars and Stripes said 3 things were required for success, attitude, attitude and attitude. So far I like the attitude, but this mess is like turning a battleship, it takes some time, and a wide berth, trouble is, we've got to keep the boiler room turning the screws in the meantime. smile

New trust me politics

The spending bill is finalized and long, some may not be able to review it before the vote. But those that we sent to Washington signed off not long ago on an 850 billion dollar INVESTMENT bank bailout which was only 8 pages long because the former President, his Treasury Secretary, his Fed Chairman said we would all fail if not passed in days.

At least this has been thought out, has some guidance, some input, while still leaving lattitude to local(us) government as how to spend it and doesn't go straight back to the idiots that created the mess.

This has been far more elegant than the "experienced" prior administration who had earned ZERO trust, and though far, far from perfect, is in a more responsible direction smile

More on Obama's "attack" on Vegas

Posted By Michael Koons

"You are not going to be able to give out these big bonuses until you've paid taxpayers back, you can't get corporate jets, you can't go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers dime."

If you can construe this to be anything other than Las Vegas for gaming and make hay...........

This is obviously not about unions, legit business etc.....

SNL skit with Dan Aykroyd

is amusing. There are some who post here quite frequently pushing more and more conservatives to the left. Then again, maybe we should impeach the new President after 4 weeks........ Keep up the good work, keep pushing those conservatives left. smile

Politics, Money and Greed

While I believe the swindlers such as the Texas guy should be taken immediately in handcuffs, apparently the law doesn't treat stealing peoples money in the same light as perhaps drug use or distribution. A quote from John Maynard Keynes I found interesting, "Capitalism is the outstanding belief that the most wickedist of men will do the most wickedist of things for the greatest good of everyone" My point at this time I am for big government regulation of the financial markets, or maybe just having agencies enforce what is probably already law, with the most severe of punishments, such as the felony drug charges. What say you!

Obama's Treasury may save the day after all,

Posted By Michael Koons

I kinda like the initiative to get private equity in, backstopped by the FED. Better than just handing the cash to investment banks.

And now another kept Obama promise (not as below)

Posted By Michael Koons

Obama promised to roll back the Bush tax cuts. Apparantly allowing a temporary tax cut to expire is a tax increase.....

"making good on his promise to eliminate some of the temporary tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003"

And these Bush tax cuts were not conservative and caused this conservative(fiscally) Republican to vote for the distateful Gore. At least he wanted to reinvest in America. That's what has always kept my company healthy. I wish more conservatives would step up to the plate.

More potential of fulfilled promises

Heard a lot of good stuff, health care, corporate and personal responsibility, cuting tax breaks for foreign subsidiaries and the ethanol debacle. Didn't like the adding Iraq to the budget.....sets up for spending and saying the budget is cut when the operating expense excluding the war isn't. But if we overall spend less signifigantly and invest in ourselves responsibly, I'm still in. 8)
