Questions About "Cooldown"

Reflectors cool down relatively quick depending on the size of course. I store inside to protect the scope. I usually plan earlier in the day that I am going out so I'll either set up or just put it out either right after work or a little while before I put the kids down. If I'm driving somewhere, I load up a little early if the drive is short.

I have an 8" reflector and this works for me.

Orion Optiluxe 32/40/50mm?

This is a good EP for the money. I have an Orion 8" Sky View Pro and use the Optiluxe 32 (BTW it is the same os the 2" Konig 32mm - I've had both at the same time). It is bright with a nice field. It is not tack sharp but gives an excellent wide view.

I spend a lot of time with a 13mm or 14mm widefield EP which seems to be an excellent size for the 8" SVP. The 32 mm I use for either a real widefield or as a finder EP. The brightness helps as the finder EP.

For the med mag, I would recommend the Meade 14 UWA. I've had this and the Nagler 13 and I kick myself everytime I am under real dark skies for selling the 14mm UWA. This was the best all around EP I have used yet with the 8" Orion SVP. Excellent fit.

Narrowband/UHC filter is very nice.

EP's
- Widefield for finding (32 Konig 2", 32 mm SWA, 35 Pan, .....)
- Medium widefield EP 17-24 SWA, Pan or Nagler
- Medium EP 13Nagler or 14 UWA Meade (UWA is recommended for view)- my favorite view in my scope is usually this size EP.
- High power EP - 9mm Nageler or 8.8 UWA Meade (UWA is recommended)

Telrad, Rigel, or at least a 8x50 finder
