Opponents of gay marriage aren't defending the Bible's values. They're using the Bible to defend their own.

Hi James:

Great find. The author of this blog post really nailed it.

Bachman:Hypocrisy in Motion

Bachman is the diversion du juor since Palin and Trump are apparently not running. She has no chance of being nominated, no chance of winning a caucus or primary and no chance of shaping debate.

I suppose it's good for us that she distracts the press while the legitimate candidates get organized.

Censorship!

Here's a link to an in-depth opinion piece by a expert Con-law reporter that suggests (among other things) that a select few of my more minor comments above are possibly full of crap. wink Rich should get a kick out of that.

I encourage anyone interested in the workings of the Supreme Court to read the linked blog rather than listen to Michael Medved, Rush, Huff-Po, CNN, MSNBC etc.

I still think Thomas' approach is whack-a-doodle and the blog author agrees with me. I can't wait for Thomas to apply 1700's era legal philosophy to our modern wives! They are just property you know, at least they were back in the day where Thomas lives.

The blog author notes that the majority draws a very bright line between sex and violence. This is one of the things that is bugging Chris of course and as a parent, I get it. It sounds like Chief Justice Roberts and Alito might be on the same page as Chris.

Another good resource if you've got some spare time is this link to all of the Amicus briefs. No one is going to read them all of course, but it is interesting to note which groups are on the same side as California and who was opposed to this statute:

This recap of the oral argument is cool too.

NGC 7000

Hello Everyone.

I have a filter question. I plan to shoot NGC 7000 and would like to know which filter should I use. My setup is an APM 80mm APO with a Televue 0.8x flattener/reducer, and a QHY8 one shot color camera. I currently have the IDAS LP2 light pollution filter, but want to know if an O-III imaging filter would be better. If there is another filter which would be better please suggest it. I will be shooting in Austin Tx, at a site with moderate light pollution.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Joe

Hi Joe:

I hate to jump in here since I have no experience with one shot color cameras or the filters for them. I do know from experience with my mono camera that NGC 7000 emits much more brightly in Ha than in OIII. I did an Ha + OIII combination of this region along with RGB stars and the Ha dominated the OIII. That is why images of NGC 7000 are usually rendered as red/pink.

So; and I'm going out on a limb here since I've never used a one shot color camera, I'd say try it with either your light pollution filter or an imaging Ha filter, instead of an imaging OIII filter.

Good luck.

Student Telescope Making at TMSP

Hi Jack:

Wow, this is a really cool service for you guys to do. How is this event organized? Do the students pay for a kit or do you donate the parts? Where do you get the optics? It really looks like fun and must be absolutely rewarding!

Ok, it seems based upon a little reading that I did today that this might be two males engaged in a ritualized dominance contest rather than a boy and gal mating.
