Here are some statistics I picked out, but there a lot more that have noting to do with SCOTUS or the overturning of Roe.

  1. Only 1/3 support the overturning of Roe.
  2. The least popular supreme court justices are Barret, Thomas, and Kavanaugh. By a wide margin, too; -12% in the case of Kavanaugh. All the Dem appointees are favorable by at least +13 or better.
  3. 60% disapprove of the way the supreme court is handling its job.
  4. Knowledge of the abortion ruling overturning Roe is very high at 84%.
  5. 64% believe the SCOTUS is a conservative court.
  6. 51% support increasing the number of justices.
  7. The personal importance of the abortion issue is 83%.
  8. People would support a candidate who would protect abortion rights over one who would curtail them by +13%.
  9. 68% support keeping abortion legal in most cases.
  10. 90% support keeping abortion legal for rape and incest.
  11. 76% oppose banning abortion pills.
  12. 82% oppose banning abortion travel across state lines.
The Federalist Society and their cronies on the court could care less.

You might want to explain that one to Clarence since he's a conservative advocate to the public...

I think you're wrong here. While there's no doubt I think Thomas should go off the court, it's obvious he's not bowing to public opinion. The point is he's trying to make it by being a conservative advocate in public...

With respect to documented outreach, RBG was very vocal in public.  No real harm there.  This list has not been updated for three years*, but I don't think you'll see any conservative justice dominating the public forum, at least not since Rehnquist's day.

* Or maybe no speeches because of Covid?
I don't how you can say that about Thomas when, after Roe, he says in public send me the other laws I don't approve of so he can go to work on those, too. (Except for the one on bi-racial marriage).
Er, ah, Thomas went onto his wife's conservative talk show for his personal interview in public. Who the ---- does that?!

Jim

Compared to what the GOP will offer, I would, although reluctantly, support a Newsome candidacy.

Conversely, if you look at the number of Trump-backed election deniers that are currently running on the ballot across the country in November, the reality becomes apparent that the Republican base supports them and hence, him. So, I'm less inclined to write him off given that and his unexpected win in 2016...

Here's an example of how bad it truly is: the GOP candidate for secretary of state in Az is an oath keeper. He's stated that he knows Biden lost the election because he personally doesn't know anybody who voted for Biden. He's also vowing to refuse to certify any Democrat who might win in 2024. He also claimed to be a combat vet in Afghanistan but his military records show he was loading cargo onto planes in Qatar. He's also running five points ahead of the Democrat in that state. There's also a similar GOP nutcase running for the same office in Nevada.

Glad to know Jim had an outstanding night at the observatory. In Brian's case, the imaging gremlins are ubiquitous so it's not surprising even the premo AP equipment can be so afflicted and here's what it's like with the imagers up at Mt Pinos: all of 'em start polar aligning at the same time and when they're done, they all think about the same thing: what went wrong!
I was up at Pinos last Thursday night and had a pretty good night. I considered going back up Sunday evening but it's Rosh Hashanah today so I didn't want to arrive sleep-deprived. I did, however, manage some observing in front of my moderately light polluted home Sunday night for a few hours and I managed to penetrate down to about 14 magnitude to visualize a couple of Abell planetary nebulae in Cepheus. I was situated behind a makeshift duck blind on top of my SUV that blocks some of the ambient light from interfering with my 16". That and an 0111 filter in my 10mm Ethos eyepiece did the trick. I also had a couple of decent views of Saturn and Jupiter with seeing stable enough to permit the use of a 5mm eyepiece.

BTW, how's your stock market doing today? Did you lose boatloads?

Since we're in a bear market now because of the condition of this country under Democrat destruction, the US Stock Market is now below 30,000 points

Congrats to the morons who voted the left to be in charge:

"He didn't skate, they had zero evidence."
Actually, it because the prosecutors felt their star witness lacked credibility. He's set for sentencing soon so we'll see what he gets.
It's Trump's pick Powell who's responsible for this financial meltdown and there's nobody with half a brain who thinks otherwise...
