SCOTUS John Robert's Year End Nothingburger Report

Posted By Rod Kaufman

The ACTIONS of several of the SCOTUS justices, all of them cons, are a significant contributing factor that belies the public trust in the court. Specifically, Thomas failing to recuse himself in cases that his wife has advocated on in relation to attempting to overturn the 2020 election results. (Not to mention him appearing on his wife's conservative talk show).  Alito traveling to another country to advocate for an anti abortion position and Barrett running to the McConnell center shortly after being appointed in order to decry criticism that the court is somehow partisan in front a staunchly conservative audience.
If Roberts were to institute a code of ethics for his own court, it would go a long way to attenuate these actions and improve the public's perception of SCOTUS. Sadly, he will do nothing...

SCOTUS John Robert's Year End Nothingburger Report

In his annual report, he basically has one thing to say: protect our asses!
https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/31/politics/john-roberts-year-end-report-supreme-court/index.html\
At a time when public confidence in SCOTUS is in the toilet, his silence on ethics speaks volumes on how much he's tone deaf. The glaring examples described in the article should give anybody in the court a heightened sense of awareness of the need to address these issues. There's obviously been no breakthroughs on the leak regarding the abortion decision since there's no smattering of an update in the report.
What a pathetic way to end the year from SCOTUS...

Texas Power Grid Fails Again And Greg Abbott

Posted By Rod Kaufman

Lies about it:
"Many Texans experienced power outages on Friday amid strong winds and the brutally cold temperatures, with more than 77,000 customers losing power, according to PowerOutage.us."
"In a statement to Newsweek Saturday afternoon, Renae Eze, Abbott's communications director, said no Texans lost power due to the power grid..."

Unlike Pakman, I don't have much empathy for Texans since they had the chance to vote this moron out of office so they basically got caught in their own doing and that's on them.

Speaker of the House election

Lol! The Republican party couldn't even get out of its own way and elect its own speaker!

That and Matt Gaetz accusing Kevin McCarthy of squatting in the speaker's office.

Gaetz wrote a letter to the Architect of the Capitol after McCarthy failed to get enough Republican votes.

Gaetz questioned why McCarthy was allowed to occupy the speaker's office despite three failed votes.

That's pretty arrogant of McCarthy to have moved his stuff into the speaker's suite before even being elected to the position. He'll have to move it back out if he fails in his bid. Now he wants the house to adjourn early so he can kiss more MAGA ass to get the required vote:

McCarthy just lost a fourth vote!
I'd think Rich would be ecstatic since Faux News chief propagandist, Tucker Carlson, is a never-Kevin camper and since Rich is one of Tucker's suckers, this must make their day!

I see some Republicans are now asking Democrats what concessions they would like in order to end the Republican-created impasse. That said, I think, at this point, the GOP, being desperate, might try to elect Steve LaSleeze so you're right, it might get worse before it gets better. McCarthy got himself into this fix so it's on him, too.

I think Rich should step in and offer to mediate the dispute with his calm. collected manner and diplomatic approach to solving problems in all things politics.
In other news, Lauren Boebert, from Rifle COLORADO, performed her first class-act in demanding and achieving the removal of the metal detectors in the house of representatives so its now open season for the public:
“When I arrived in Congress two years, Nancy Pelosi put this hunk of garbage outside of the House chambers for members of Congress to go through,” Boebert said, as the metal detectors were removed behind her. “Today, they are being removed and we are turning Pelosi’s House back into the people’s House.”
