DeSantis Takes Over Disney's Districting!

Posted By Rod Kaufman

"Appearing at the doorstep of Walt Disney World, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Monday that gives him new power over Disney, effectively punishing the entertainment giant for speaking out against the Republican’s political agenda."
"The new law amounts to a state takeover of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, the government body that has given Disney unique powers in Central Florida for more than half a century. It allows the governor to replace the district’s existing board – mostly people with ties to Disney – with a five-member body that he hand-picks"
“Today, the corporate kingdom finally comes to an end,” DeSantis said Monday at a Reedy Creek fire station in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. “There’s a new sheriff in town and accountability will be the order of the day.”
" Mike Pence said the conflict with Disney was “beyond the scope of what I as a conservative, limited government Republican would be prepared to do.” And New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu said penalizing businesses for political speech set “the worst precedent in the world.”

Can you imagine the uproar if a Democratic governor pulled that crap?! Davis would be screaming commie all over the place!

Gee, I can recall it wasn't too long ago that Davis was screaming for the Biden administration to get more weapons to Ukraine more quickly.
Well, even Moscow Mitch who leads the GOP in the senate wants more weapons to Ukraine now by increasing the defense budget. Here's what the turtle said today:
“The defense budget ought to reflect the nature of the threat,” he said, citing “not only Russia and Ukraine” but also “the ongoing challenge of meeting China in the future.”

"He said lawmakers “did a good job” of “plussing up defense” in last year’s $1.7 trillion omnibus spending package."
“In this environment we need to continue to plus up defense,” he said, pointing to what he called “problems” producing weapons and ammunition to meet the need in Ukraine."

Obviously your reading comprehension is on a par with your 1st grade math skills.

I'll support spending perhaps $100 Billion, maybe a bit more to keep the war in Ukraine from escalating since Vlad Putin stated recently that he now questions Poland's borders, insinuating that he intends to move the war to the surrounding areas.

In comparison to $32,000 Billion, $100 Billion to isolate Putin is worth it.

The rest of the spending by this administration which will end up amounting to most likely about $20 TRILLION over the next 10 years is outrageous.

I don't expect you to have the intellect to be able to follow my explanation of the numbers. smile
Pretty much the response I'd expect from the resident Dick of the forum. You're simply talking out of both sides of your mouth when you say to support weapons to Ukraine while at the same you state, "We cannot afford any of this." That said, much of the debt that's been incurred as far as raising the debt ceiling goes was that primarily derived from Dubya's war in Iraq over imaginary WMDs and the massive spending that occurred under Trump. Not a peep about either from the "fiscal conservatives" on the forum...

I stated in my response #9 right out of the box that I support the ARMING of Ukraine and sending weaponry to them in order to avert a possible World War if they decide to invade Poland which Putin intimated that he might.

Therefore when you make this moronic statement :  "You're simply talking out of both sides of your mouth when you say to support weapons to Ukraine while at the same you state, "We cannot afford any of this."

The rest of Biden's thoughtless, irresponsible, and reckless spending is just that.

I mean I know you are romper room IQ level stupid, but please do try to keep up!  smile

P.S. I have to give you some credit though as you do really live up to your reputation as the dumbest man on A-Mart.  wink

You're right; Rich is an angry old man. We have to make him happy.  Here's something that will make him happy. The latest bellwether poll of Republicans in Virginia shows Trump leading DeSantis by 11 points. Even Youngkin couldn't touch him. Other polls show Trump solidly leading DeSantis. All of that should have him whistling Dixie!

"20,000 people may have been exposed to measles during religious gathering in Kentucky, CDC says"
"two doses of the MMR vaccine are about 97% effective at preventing measles."
https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/03/health/measles-kentucky-asbury-cdc/index.html
So the vaccine is "only" 97% effective at preventing measles, meaning somebody will still contract it despite being vaccinated. By the "logic" displayed in this forum, it doesn't work as it should so why take it?  cwy
