Focuser upgrade for an orange tube C11

Posted By James Gibbs

I would like to upgrade the focuser on my 1981 0r 82 C11. As they are pricey I could use some advice. I looked at the Feather touch site. However the rear cells they show do not look exactly like mine. See the pic below. Moonlite mmay work but I am not sure.

Focuser Decision and Recommendations?

Posted By James Gibbs

I am interested in this issue as well. My C11 is a 1981 or 1982 version orange tube. I plan to only visually observe at this point. I got one response at cloudy nights which was helpful but no definitive. I hope you get many helpful responses. I have kind of struck out.

C11 F10 or Meade LX 90 ACf F10.

Posted By James Gibbs

I am thinking of purchasing a new Celestron F10 C11 or a Meade LX90 12inch ACF F10 sometime in late this year or early next year.  Please weigh in on the positives and negatives of each scope. I am planing to buy a OTA only as I own a Mach1.  I have owned a C11 since 1984.  The OTA needs cleaning.  I talked with Company Seven and they informed me that the cost of cleaning collimating same will cost moer than the scope is worth. I plan to do visual observing only.  That is why I plan to purchase a F10.  Finally my budget limits me to one or the other OTA.  Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
