Hello, Does any one know the maximum practical distance between the objective lenses of an 83mm f6 bino pair? I'm planning on using two 45 diagonals per tube, so interocular spacing is a matter of figuring out how to keep them properly aliegned. If this works out I'll try a larger pair. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randy

Hello, Is there a formula or rule of thumb for figuring the optimum distance between objective tubes on a pair of binos? Would a pair of 45 diagonals for each tube work for interocular adjustment? Is there a better way? I have these 83mm f6 objectives that are just begging to be made into binoculars. Help, please. Thanks, Randy

Wow, I posted this question last week and got gang ignored, so I'll try again. I've got a pair of 83mm f6 achromats that just beg to be made into binos. Is there a rule of thumb or a formula for the spacing between the objective tubes? I'm thinking of using two 45 diagonals per tube for Ep holders. Is there abetter way? Is there a "don't ever try that" type of problem? Thanks, Randy

Triplet objective lens

Whats the advantage of a triplet lens over a doublet lens? It seems to me a triplet is another piece of glass that light has to fight its way through to get to your eye.

Source for porroprisms

Hey Guys I need a source for porroprisms. The type you put in your epiece holder and put your eyepiece in the other end. I'm trying to work out a binoscope project and any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Randy

B&L 20 x 80 Binos

I just got a pair of B&L 20x80 binos. On the top of the center post it says "20x80 astronomical fv 2.7" The Bausch & Lomb logo is on the right prism housing. B&L dosen't make them any more as I can't find reference to them anywhere. Does anybody know about these binos? Things like how do they compare to other binos,years they were made, what they are worth? They are alot heavier and larger than my 15x70 Oberworks. I haven't had a chance to test them yet as the northeast is clouded over and hasn't had a night of good viewing for what seems like months. Any inputs you guys may have would be greatly appreciated. Fast shipping

I just got a pair of eyepieces from an astromarter in Hong Kong that he shipped Saterday ( I think thats friday for us). I would have got them yesterday but no one was here to sign for them so I picked them up at post office this morning. Why dosn't it happen that fast in the states? This deal started 10,000 miles away and completed in two days! Absolutly amazing.
