Can I use 1.25" diagonal in 0.96" scope?

Posted By Colin Decker

Bought an older Pentax 85-f1000-refractor. OEM is a .96" digonal, prism, which is good quality but I dont want to invest in new .96" eyepieces for a number of reasons. How can I tell if a new 1.25" diagonal will work with this scope regarding fit, also concerned with inability to achieve focus. Many thanks, colin

A little fuzzy on which system would be required for the Televue 76 refractor. Is the 1.25 inch vs 2 inch a light/field of view issue or a compatability issue? What do I need to make this puppy work, believe I have come down with the fever! Many thanks, colin

Eyepiece recommendations?

Think the Televue 20 plossls are an excellent value for a binoviewer. Clear, sharp, contrasty and good eye relief. Coupled with a Powermate can give a nice range of magnification. Good place to start until you can no longer resist the Pans. cd
