Need to buy a small quick set up scope

Posted By Joseph Marzullo

I own a 10"lx200. But I need another smaller scope. Something I can set up in 2 minutes, of good quality (possibly goto) in the $600 to $900 range.
Any suggestions? (Oh, I forgot, I have a GP mount with drives I's hope I could put the scope on.)

Coloamerailter Wheel 8A interface

Posted By Joseph Marzullo

Does anyone out there use a CFW8A witha camera other than SBIG? I would like to use the parallel interface. Maxim DL has the software drive for the parallel port. But what about the cable? How do you make, or buy, such a cable? I read Maxim instructions on the cable interface. But it just sais that Pin 2 connects to pin 2 and pin 25 to pin five. What about the rest???? Anyone out there electronically gifted???

Thanks in advance,
Giuseppe from Verona.

CFW 8A, How in the Hell.....

Posted By Joseph Marzullo

I'm going nuts. I know the information is out there somewhere!
I own a CFW8A I used to use with my ST7E. I sold the ST7E and bought a Starlight SXHV9. The camerea is no problem, I have Maxim CCD/DL 4.0 which I know can control the CFW8A.
But.......... How do I connect the CFW8 to the parallel port?
SBIG does not nmake such a cable, or so they told me.
I know some of you guys out there are using this combination.
Please HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!! >sad

Canon EOS 30 D and Vista

Posted By Joseph Marzullo

I have a canon EOS 30D that I am trying to use to do some imaging.
Unfortunately for the past three years I have not been able to use it.
I have CERES software and cabling as well as Maxim DSLR on my Windows Vista computer.
Neither of them work. Maxim folks have told me that Vista will not work with the 30D and Canon will not issue any patches to address the problem. The Ceres software does not recognize the camera at all.
Help!!!!

CCD filters sets Astrodon vs Astronomik or Schuler

Posted By Joseph Marzullo

Which set of narrow band filters is better Astrodon or Astronomik (or Schuler??)
Consider I need both LRGB and narrow band ans it is going to be used for deep sky imaging with the following:
Tak TOA 130, Starlight Xpress SXVH9 ccd camera.
There is quite a price difference between the two, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Joe.

My EM 200 thinks is in Austalia

Posted By Joseph Marzullo

Hi, I have had a tak em200 and have had no problems with it. Last night I turned it on and it seemed it was not tracking. The stars were moving out of the field of view. I turned the motor off, and the stars were still moving out of the field but at a slower rate.
I realized that it was running in reverse, for the southern hemisphere. I live in New Jersey, not Australia.
To turn the Tak in southern mode, you turn the computer standby switch on at the same time you hold switch S1 down.
When I did that the mount kept the stars in the field and tracked fine.
The problem will not go away no matter how many times I shut the power off and turned it back on. It should be in northern hemisphere mode, when it is first turned on. But it is not, and it tracks as if it were in the south right off the bat. I have to switch to southern mode to make it track.
I have not changed power supply or anything. It always worked fine for the past two years.
Have you ever run into this problem? How do you fix it? I am at a complete loss.
Thanks.
Joe.

Borg 76ED vs. Tak FS78 vs. Teleuve vs. Vixen 80ED

Posted By Joseph Marzullo

Gene I have the Borg 76ED and I love it! I own a 10"LX200 and a TAK-102FS, but the Borg gets used the most both for nature viewing and stargazing.

80mm SkyWatcher Refractor

Darrel, you got me curious on this scope. I went to the OPT site. The skywatcher AZ4 sells for $159 but it is not a "goto" telescope. You mention that it is a goto and ..it has an object list that blows Meade out of the water. What am I missing?
Joe.
