Apogee Inc. 4-Position Color Filter Wheel -- filte

Posted By Mark Cornell

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know anything about the red, green, and blue filters that come with the Apogee Inc. 4-Position Color Filter Wheel? I have one of these on order (for the wheel itself), and I was wondering how good the included filters were, what kind they were (interference? standard glass?), whether transmission curves were available, etc. Just wondering whether to hang onto them, or find them a new home, etc.

Thanks,
Mark

One-piece star diagonals?

Posted By Mark Cornell

Hi guys,

Does anyone else sell a 2-inch star diagonal that is a one-piece design like the Televue Everbrite? The Televue is a bit outside my price range. I currently have an Orion model with a nose piece that threads into the diagonal body. The problem is that the nose piece likes to unscrew and dangle my heavy eyepieces over the ground. Any other suggestions (beyond super glue)? wink

Thanks,
Mark

Meade DSI II Pro or DSI II Color?

Posted By Mark Cornell

Hi Floyd et al.,

I'm no expert, and I don't mean to hijack your thread, but this discussion is very interesting to me because I have dabbled with my Meade original DSI, but am now reading cool stuff about Stellacam IIs and Mallincams. I, too, am interested in a comparision among these cameras of the "live" image. Anyone's thoughts would be appreciated.

Also, Floyd, have you considered an Orion Starshoot? I thought those were comparable to a Meade DSI, but with thermoelectric cooling?

My tree house Observatory 4 of 4

Hi Bob,

Very cool. I especially like the detail inside the pier. One question:
What are the threaded rods sticking out the sides for? Mount points for
a tray or something?

Thanks,
Mark
