Hey Astro Gang,

Let's have one of our patented free-for-all discussions on what we think the best 8" Newtonian reflector OTA is (EQ mountables only please, no dobs, and for the moment let's say if price weren't too much of an object)!

Is it an offering from Parks or Discovery? Or perhaps it's the Vixen R200SS or the New Orion with Pyrex optics?

Vixen R200SS reflector

Has anybody ever seen a "visual" review of the Vixen R200SS reflector? I'm interested in using it for DSO only.

I've seen some beautiful photos taken with it, but I've never talked to anyone who uses it for visual observation, and f/4 seems very fast to me for that sort of thing.

What Dot Finder for Tak FS102?

OK.. I finally decided to buy a Tak FS102 (and thanks so much for all your advice and info).

Here's my question... I really don't like using regular finder scopes, so does anyone know of a dot finder (like the Stellarview for example) will fit in the finder dovetail mounting slot of the FS102?

Manual for Meade 644 Flip-Mirror?

Hi,

Would anybody happen to have a manual for a Meade 644 Flip-Mirror System? A photocopy or a .pdf would be great!

I want to learn to adjust the mirror angle and Meade does not offer a .pdf manual for this unit on their website (of course!) and as you all well know, they don't have an email address.

DSO views with Minus Violet Filter?

Hey!

I have a 6" Celestron achro refractor and I'm thinking about getting a Williams Optics 2" Minus Violet filter to put permanently on the diagonal.

I'm a bit worried that this will effect the overall light transmission and therefore the views / details of DSO.

Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing?
