I've sent several emails through Astromart to Malco regarding their pier plate for an AP 1200, but I've received nothing from them. I'm interested in the difference between the Malco and the Astro-Physics plate if anyone has any first hand information. I hope Malco's tech support after purchase is better than their email response for pre-sales info. Specific items are:

vs

Kreig, I have both, and don't seriously use the original since I got the Binomite II. For me, the tiny original is a pain to use, and the II is a pleasure. I would suggest you try each before purchasing the original unit. Just my thoughts...

Steve, the SolarMax 60 adapter should work with any 40, you just need a reducer. I have the Solarmax 60 adapters for TV-85 and Sky-90, and each has a reducer so I can use my Solarmax 40 also. Just give Coronado a call, they have always bent over backward to help with any problem I have had.

Louis, I've used an FS-60C with the Coronado SM40 for years now. It's a wonderful setup, light weight with great image quality. Coronado sells the adapters as well as the filters, or if you're on a budget, they show up on Astromart classifieds from time to time. Try it, it's pretty much "plug and play".
