Carl Zeiss Tripods

Posted By Ian Lamont

Hello All,

I do not speak or read German (regrettably) but I have a desire for knowledge which is sending me loopy on the internet in terms of chasing something on a non-ending cycle of ' lack of evidence'.  Lots of opinions and images are out there , but who to trust for the definitive answer - well anybody ,as long as they have the official evidence
I'am a civil engineer (retired) by profession, and well familiar with the appropriate product lines from Wild, Leica Geosystems, Kern, Carl Zeiss (Oberkochen), Carl Zeiss Jena and several others from Japan.
I happen to be the owner of  a small number of Carl Zeiss Jena telescopes (Asiola,Telementor and Telemator)  and all fit nicely with purpose  made stainless steel adapters on to my surveying tripods from Wild and Leica.

But, I would prefer them resting on their designated tripods.
I am well aware of the tripods for the above scopes, but seek definitive manufactures evidence ( images and titles)  on the difference between a Zeiss 3VS tripod and a Zeiss 2VS tripod. I know the former is the heavier version and that's about all.

In relation to the above, I ask the question - is there a formal manufactures interface between the above two tripods and a Zeiss Jena 1b  mount?  I am aware many 'clones' are out there!

Ah well, I've asked the questions, hopefully somebody more brighter than me can advise accordingly.

Yours fraternally to all,

Ian Lamont.
