Can anyone tell me how to measure the field stop diameter of an eyepiece? A lot of manufacturers do not list this measurement in their specs. Thank you for your time, Rick Miseroy

I recently purchased a 10" Hercules mount from Helix-Mfg and am very satisfied with it. I have a pair of the Oberwerk BT-100s and this mount is silky smooth even with these heavy(26lbs) binoculars. The adjustable craddle height is a definite plus for balancing the binoculars. I was very pleased with the fit and finish of this mount and Tim is a pleasure to deal with. The attached photo shows the mount attached to a Quickset Hercules tripod. I can only post one photo so contact me if you would like to see more.

I recently purchased some used 14x70 Fujinons that were missing the rubber guards around the front objectives. I went to Home Depot and found that the rubber insert from a 3" coupler for sewer pipe fits snugly over the front objectives and provided about a 1.5" dew shield. The rubber is nice because it' pliable, flat black and does not fall off. In addition they only cost $3 each.

I have an FS78 with the longer tube length and was worried about the same issue using a WO 2" diagonal. I ordered the "Setscrew" version of the Tak 2" adapter, P/N TOA0040 rather than the "Compression" version, P/N TOA0050, because it was a little shorter thereby increasing the amount of in-focus. All of my eyepieces came to focus except the Pentax SMC 28.

You might try buying a 1.25" adapter with a lower profile than the one supplied with the WO 2" diagonal.

Hi Lee,

I took an old 25" B&L Anastigmat f/10 lens and mounted it to a plywood box, added a mirror and jerry-rigged a focuser to see if it would work and it does. No problem seeing the rings of Saturn at 34x and 79x using microscope eyepieces. Now I'm making a new box out of poplar, giving it a nice finish and adding a JMI type focuser to it. Its a lot of fun taking old optics and making something useful out of it.

I saw Saturn's rings one time with my 16x70 Fujinons under perfect skies. I see them regularly with my 22x60 Taks.
