Mark,

Go to http://www.cfas.org/scc.htm to see the location of Central Florida Astronomical Society's Seminole County (just north and east of Orlando)Dark Sky site. I was at this site with them last month and the skies are very dark to the east and south, somewhat lighter to the north, and much brighter to the west (towards Sanford). The calandar ( http://www.cfas.org/AstroLog/2002Nov/page3.html ) shows that they will be at the site tonight or tomorrow morning for the Leonid meteor shower and on both the 29th & 30th of the month.

Maitland FLorida (near Orlando), my daughter and I observed 101 meteors from 5:15 to 6:00am in my suburban driveway with obstructed views (large oak trees) to the east and north east as well as partial obstructed view to the west. Fair amount of light pollution also. Skies were perfectly clear, temp. 55 degrees. All things considered, I think the show was great (my ten year old daughter thinks so too!).
