Guidescope SuggestionsPosted By Stephen Long |
It is my experience that any reflector is a bad idea for a guidescope unless you do some modifications to completely remove any possibility of the slightest mirror shift. I have a 10" LX200 and I use Losmandy mounting rings (very solid) and a 90mm Astro-Physics refractor specifically designed to be a guidescope. You want it to be as solid as possible. Also....you need your focal length of your guidescope to be at a bare minimum at least half of the focal length of the primary scope. Use a barlow if necessary. Basically....solid as possible(refractor always better for guiding), and long focal length comparable to the primary scope. Hope I have helped.
