HAHAHAHA!!!!! (gasp, wheeze) HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Just saw this in the classifieds...

For Sale: Long Tubey Thingie Has Glass At One End W/Meade On It. Actually, the glass itself doesn't have Meade on it, though it might on the edge, but if it does I have no clue. Then again people have been telling me for years that I have no clue. The tube has two round knobs on the other end that move a pipe in and out. It comes out quite far so if you're looking at it closely while turning the knobs be careful because I found out it's true what your mother told you, "You're going to poke your eye out with that thing." Tube says Meade 390 on side. Comes with 3-legged stand with a top that goes up/down and left/right. Top has two long cables with big knobs that look like weird cupcake molds at the ends. Tube has little 6x30 telescope on it and includes funny looking pyramid with pipes on either side, one 1.25" ID and one 1.25" OD. Looking for $175. Which just happens to be the same amount I'm asking for this shipped to your door. Although why your door would want it is beyond me. Thanks for looking.

HELP!!! Need reliable link for Chromacor info...

Posted By Bob Hanson

Have been searching APM's website for the Chromacor page in English and keep coming up empty... Have exhausted Google search engine without reliable links...

Has the Chromacor fallen prey to the black hole that sucks up so many wonderful astro products before they get established?!?

Mounting a Celestron 102 f/5 Wide View Refractor

Posted By Bob Hanson

I have recently purchased a new Celestron 102 f/5 spotting scope and have been going the upgrade route...

First, I ditched the useless stubby finder scope (it went in the rubbish bin without being used once) and put a very nice red-dot finder in the dovetail slot. Next, the 45-degree erecting prism went into hiding and was replaced by a 2-inch mirror diagonal (the Orion 40mm Optiluxe 2-inch is one helluva sweet eyepiece coupled to this scope). Now, the Bogen tripod and 3047 head are being retired in favor of a CG-5 mount with dual axis drive. But, I could use a little assistance from the gang regarding mounting rings...

I have scoured the Celestron website but did not come uo with any positive answer as to the proper diameter of ring to use. Can anyone give me a proper fit in the Orion cast ring? I am thinking that the ones that are used on the Orion 4-inch f/6 refractor would be a match but am not 100% sure (hate to wait a week for them to reach the east coast and find out I bought the wrong ones).

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Clear Skies,
Jeff Harman

For the cat lover in all of us...

Posted By Bob Hanson

Folks, I have been accused of showing dislike to cats in the past... How untrue, says I! I just LUV the little buggars! To show my love for cats, I am getting a brand new car!

The Ford "Sportka" (currently being marketed in Great Britain) is especially designed with the feline in mind! With an "artificial intelligence" designed to make the car irresistable to the curiousity of the common house cat, you can be assured that any cat that is drawn to your new Sportca will never, ever leave footprints on anyone elses car!

Below is a link to an amazing commercial that is airing in Great Britain from Ford Motor Company of England that proves the above claim without a shadow of a doubt! My gosh, I am gonna get two of these beauties!
