Re: Feathertouch for Tak... FSQ/4"?

Posted By Jeff Crilly

Wow.. thats nicely executed. And the price is right considering the MEF.

How about one for the 4" focusers? e.g. the FSQ?

Fwiw, the MEF is ok. I had mine slip on the shaft, and had to re-tighten it last night.
Good thing someone had tools. I also think the torque-arm/bracket needs to be beefier.

m42 - 300D modified...

Posted By Jeff Crilly

Here's a recent M42 from the SF bay area....

This was done with a camera I modified using a
8" f4 Meade Schmidt-Newt and guided w/ a DSI-Pro.

A IDAS-LPS was used to cut down on the sky glow.

AP900 vs AP1200

Posted By Jeff Crilly

Assume the following...
- TOA 130 OTA now (and C14 later)
- 90% imaging and 10% visual
- 90% traveling-to-dark-sky-site, 10% backyard narrowband imaging.

Which mount would you prefer: ap900 or ap1200?

Why?

thanks

Clamshell PIggyback

Posted By Jeff Crilly

I use two clamshells and mounted losmandy dovetail adapters to the top of them.
Then I mount a losmandy DUP to the dovetails. This carries the guide scope.
(My current guidescope has losmandy rings mounted directly to a DUP which then
fits to the DAs. Fwiw, I think a better setup is to just mount another
dovetail saddle to the top of the clamshells.)

Here's the setup... Note that I took out the existing bolts and used
new 1/4-20s.

and... here's ways I've had the guidescope mounted to the DAs...

With the guide camera mounted on the DAs using another
pair of DAs on losmandy rings; there's a losmandy male-male between
the imaging OTA and the guide scope...

Here's another picture with a 80mm f11 guidescope bolted directly
to the losmandy DUP.
