Nexstar8 & The Sky Pocket Edition

Posted By Jim Bougher

I have a Nexstar8 that is just about 1 year old.I purchased The Sky Pocket Edition.I am running the program on an HP Jornada 568.I have all the correct cables and connectors for the link to my scope.I have used the program 3 different times and the scope will slew to 3 objects and then I get a message that communication has been lost and the program freezes up.Anyone had any experience with this problem? Orion 80ED

Posted By Jim Bougher

I ordered this scope last week from Anacortes. At that time delivery was to be around 1st week in December. After reading the earlier post I contacted Anacortes.I was told the scope is still available but that the lead time is going to be somewhere around the beginning of 2004.Jim

80ED

I just recieved notification that my order for the scope through Digitec has been cancelled.Product not available.
I still would like to get a small refractor.I had plans of mounting the Orion on a Nexstar base.Anyone have comments on the Stellarvue 80/9d? It's a bit long at 31" but I think it will work for me. Thank you for any input......Jim

Nexstar8

Can anyone help me with this?In the pic attached the arrow points to a gear that runs the dec axis.I have been noticing when tracking the scope slips in dec.Depending on the direction the gear is loaded that is the direction the scope slips.Loaded up-scope drifts up.Same if it's loaded in the down direction.Drifts down.I can see that the bottom gear has some play side to side.Is this something I can adjust relatively easy?Any help is greatly appreciated.
