Where to live around LA for dark skies?

After the laughing has stopped... :S preferably within a 45 minute drive from Pasadena. Just relocated here from Texas and now with house sold, looking now to buy. I am assuming somewhere in the mountains. Thoughts anyone?

JMI DX1 and a 6" Mak-Newt

How can I mount the focuser on to an Orion Mak-Newt? I assume an Intes MN-61 would be the same design issue. The base plate attached to the helical focuser does not seem to be suitable for re-use on the JMI. I know it has been done before, but could not find any details around it.

Focuser looks really neat sitting in the box sad

Domain name is expired, phone numbers i have google'd for do not work, nor can I find them in the yellowpages. Thinking about staying up there toward the end of the month...

I know they were attempting to sell the place relatively recently.

Orion Mak-Newt Oops...

Apparently the move did not go so well. The meniscus lens has come "loose" per attached pic. So... Now what? Anyone attempt to reattach the lens before and any particular challenges with aligning the optics again? I hope it is just a loose clip...

Cleaning suggestions for the lens since I am already need to open it up?
