Internal Reflections:HELP!

Posted By Keith Geary

Hello All, could i please ask for some help?, lately i've been getting internal reflections from bright stars on all my astrophotos like the one below, regardless of what film or lens i use. Could this be due to my lens being set open too much or is there something within the slr camera body itself causing this problem?, i just can't get rid of it! Notice that all reflections are always pointing in the same direction, this is the same for all photos, it's only proportional to how bright the star is.

Thanks for your help!! Keith........

RA Motor Drive - help!

Posted By Keith Geary

Hello all, can anybody be of help?, i'm into piggyback astrophotography at the moment using my Celestron C8 SCT, but all my images produced generate a 'spike' from each bright star in the image, no matter what lens or film i use. This spike is always produced in the same direction on each shot. I've looked over my camera, all seems ok, but i have a strong suspicion (and have been told) that the RA Motor drive is 'skipping' as i take my shots. How can i take a look at this?, have any of you seen this before, can it be fixed. I've enclosed a shot of saturn near M1, ok, the tracking is slightly off due to inaccurate polar alignment, bit thesespikes will not go away!!, is the motor 'skipping'?

Thanks for your help, Keith....

Good Films for piggyback?

Posted By Keith Geary

Hello all, i'd like to ask - i plan to shoot the Summer Milkyway in all it's glory over the next few months, what are the best films to use for an slr camera? I currently use Fuji Provia 400F, Kodak Elitechrome 200 & the fuji superia range. Any other 35mm film which is better / or gives very good results?

Thanks, Keith.....
