Very interesting... I couldn't tell from the UO website exactly what sort of filter they are building in but could one ASSUME its the Sirius Planetary Contrast ... or perhaps something different? Kind of makes you want to buy one just to look through it.....

This looks like the price range for a used Starmaster ELT. If you get a really great deal - throw in a binoviewer.

I don't own an ELT or a binoviewer - I do own an 8" Portaball and owned a 6.5" DGM - very nice scopes and fairly comparable I thought.

Well one year after your question here's one answer anyway. I have owned a 15" Litebox for about seven years now, used it quite a lot for 4 years or so. It is a sweet well made telescope. It is indeed 'lite' - see the website for specs, but very portable. The mirror has its own detachable case/cover which I think is genius. Eyepiece height is perfect. You pick your own mirror - so that's your call.

I also own an 8" Portaball that was simply wonderful to use - but after I got the Litebox the Portaball saw far less action. I think that says something. Now - why did I answer this dusty old question???? Probably just as some sort of karma kudos to the scope's original builder
