Purchacing a telescope

Posted By Greg Sirna

My search for a telescope has led me to 4 models. 2 Meades, the 10" LXD55 f/4 Schmidt- Newtonian w/ standard EMC Group, the 8" lxd55 f/4 SN w/ UHTC Group and 2 Celestrons the Nexstar 8i Schmidt-Cassegrain and the G-9.25 SC on a CG-5 mount.
I would like to do some astrophotos as I have my own darkroom. There are so many choices, I can't decide on which one. All thoughts or referrals would be helpfull.

Dove Tail & BO Ring

Posted By Greg Sirna

Here is a photo of the my Apogee dove tail and the BO Ring. They just dont fit any way you mix them. There is a space between the ring and the dove tail using the inner hole and the bottom of the ring is not flat to use the outter hole. Either way the Bolt we waited for is to short and wont work without some modification to the ring or dove tail.

What Eyepieces should I get?

Posted By Greg Sirna

Hey Gang,

I got those advertised eyepieces from Bill, (as I only a few .965s
that go with my little 63 mm F12). But they turned out to be a 40 mm
and a 6mm. I have a Seibert 2" 2.5X barlow. The 40mm will probably
work for now but the 6 mm looks like I have to stick my eye way to
close. So I probably will return it. That means I need atleast one
more higher powered eyepiece for now. What should I look for? Used is
ok, I am on a buget. Any advice is greatly apreciated. I want to have
some good views with my 127 when the skies here finally clear up.
Great Reports so far, I am jonesn' for some clear sky

Thanks,
Greg

Saturn in slightly better than average conditions

Posted By Greg Sirna

Wow Nice Shot! Here is my attempt at Saturn last night. Seeing about a 3 with high humidity. I used a Sac4c camera with a 2" 2.5x barlow in my 127 F8. This is a raw image. It's my first attempt at astro camming. My image is really bright, but could not get it darker with out losing detail. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Greg

Do you like the new design?

Posted By Greg Sirna

The new look is nice, BUT it seems to take me longer to navigate around the site.
However, If they fix that (maybe I am missing some thing) it would be great.
