Ground board thickness

Posted By John Carroll

Hi everyone

I was wondering if it makes a difference going with 1/2" or 3/4" thick plywood for the ground board on a 12.5" scope? With the load always on the Teflon which is always over the feet does it help at all to have thicker ground board or is 1/2" just fine. Trying to save some weight if I can.

Thanks

Who makes the best secondary mirror?

Posted By John Carroll

I am looking to buy the best quality secondary mirror I can find to get the most out of the 1/40th wave primary mirror in my 6" f/10 scope. Who sells the best secondary mirrors out there?

Thanks

Star Party in New Jersey

Bob

I don't have a Star Party in Central New Jersey for you but I do have one in Southern New Jersey that is worth the travel. It's the South Jersey Star Party at Belleplain State Forest in Southern New Jersey hosted by the South Jersey Astronomy Club. Belleplain State Forest is one of the darkest sites in all of New Jersey. This year it is being held October 4-6th. It's a great time with great people, you won't regret it. One of this years speakers is Derrick Pitts of the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.

Here is a link to the website for all the info.
