I am looking for suggestions on putting in a pier for my observatory. What piers are availble and what are the pros and cons. I dont have a problem dropping cement 48" deep but the top of the cement w/ bolts needs to be 12" underground. If I move I just want to fill in the ground and leave the cement as is. So something that I can bolt to the cement base.

Let me start this post by saying that I flat clueless when it comes to weather. I am trying to figure out what is the recommended weather station to get for an observatory. The observatory is completely remote. I understand that some of the stations have rain sensors, but by the time it is raining Im in trouble. Anyways, looking for some help on how to detect any sign of moisture and doing it remotely.
