Question

Posted By Bryan Varney

Hi.
I am into Astronomy, and I drop in and check out the photos on this forum every once in a while.
You guys take some neat pictures!
I love to look at birds through my telescopes and binoculars but have no formal knowledge of birding.
What I want to do is take digital photos via eyepiece projection but I don't know where to start.
What kind of digital camera? How do I attach the camera to
my scope? Will my 1 1/4" eypieces work or do I have to purchase special ones? I have 2" capability.
Is there a site or book you can point me towards to get me
started.
thanks,
Bryan

Software?

Posted By Bryan Varney

I am putting together a digiscope setup and
I will need to get some software to edit my images.
What do I need?
Full blown Photoshop?
Elements or Elements 2.0?
Other?
I have never used any Photoshop software so I really don't
know the difference.
Thanks,
Bryan

My First Bird Photos

Posted By Bryan Varney

I was able to go out digiscoping for the first time today.
Boy was that a learning experience! Birds are fast and
I still have not learned how to run my Coolpix 995 yet.
I think this is a Bohemian Waxwing. I am also new to identifying birds as well as working with photos in Photoshop. I have some false color in the photo that must
be comming from my camera or eyepiece. I don't think my TV 76 is to blame.
Anyway I was exited to get this photo eventhough it is not the best.

SnowBeak

Not sure what size photos you guys post on this forum.
It says 500,000 bytes but That does not tell me much.
What does that translate to in photo size.
Thanks
PS sorry about the double post.

TV 76 Back Focus

Posted By Bryan Varney

I picked up a Williams Optics 2" Erecting Prism for birding
and digiscoping with my TV 76 but I am finding that my
Scope Tronix eyepiece are about 1/4" or less short of comming to focus at infinity. They do make it at close range. (100 yards or so)
Anyone have any ideas how I can gain an 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch of back focus without a barlow.
The Compression Ring on the end of the focuser is pretty long. It would be nice if there was a shorter one available. It looks like you could gain a 1/2" or so with
a different one.
Thanks,
Bryan

Poor weather is keeping me from going out too.
I was able to step outside and snap these little guys.

House Sparrow??

I was pretty happy with this shot.
All I had to do is brighten it up a hair
and resize.
I think I had my monitor to bright also.
Let me know if my brightness is off on this pic.
