How do I find a Meade autostar "Tour"?

Posted By Michael Neal

I just bought a used LX-200 standard, and there I thought there was supposed to be a feature in the autostar that allowed you to download and run a pre-programmed "tour" of the skies. But I haven't been able to find that feature or how to download the "tour".

Any help on this is appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Which guidescope to buy?

Posted By Michael Neal

I have a 12" LX200 standard and want to buy a guidescope that is compatible with the LX200 drive.

As I'm new to astrophotgraphy, the question is what is a reliable guidescope that will track well enough for 10-20 min. exposures?

Inexpensive auto-guider for LX-200 classic?

Posted By Michael Neal

I'd like to put together or purchase a CCD autoguider for my 12" LX-200 classic.

If possible I'd like it to interact directly with the CCD port on the LX-200 panel, but that is not a definate requirement.

I do not want to guide through an off axis guider unless I have to. My preferance would be to mount the CCD to the finder scope, or ???? Maybe I have the wrong impression, and using an off axis guider is the better solution?

I'm looking for recomendations, and as you can tell by my message content, I'm a novice, so any help is appreciated.

If you have an auto-guider for sale at a good price, let me know.

Thanks!

Where can I buy a 'Scope Saver'?

Posted By Michael Neal

I'm trying to find the famed 'Scope Saver' scope base that mounts between the tripod and the scope base for an LX-200 12".

Any help would be appreciated.

My first M31 photo

How did you guide? Or should I assume that due to the exposure times guiding was not necessary?

The reason I'm asking is that I have a D-60 as well and am just getting started with astro imaging.

Also, any tips on focusing? I find it very difficult to focus through the cameras small eyepiece and was having a lot of problems getting good focus on my initial test shots.

Any help you could send would be appreciated and by the way,

GREAT JOB!! Very nice looking images.
