What diameter has the hole to be in the top plate of the pier I'm building, that the flange of the CG=5 fit's into it?

Best height for pier?

I am building a pier for a CG-5 with a c-8 OTA which I bought here at astromart. They are on their way to Australia.

I would like to know, what the best height for a pier is, considering I am 5.10" and there will be a camera at the back of the OTA.

1. Does an autostar 497 need to be connected to the computer AND the telescope to receive power for updating or is it enough to just connect it to the com port?

2. Are there any issues with Windows XP?
