Herb and all the Folks at Anacortes,

Thanks for the great new site and thanks to all the long-time members for all their time and expertise. When I finally get around to converting my red-tube 13.1 inch Odyssey to a truss-dob I'm sure I'll be sending off many desperate pleas for help (and maybe even buying something :-)

Cheers,

Celestron Schmidt Newtonian??

It was called the Comet Catcher. Take a look at this group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cometcatcher/

where you will find a PDF of the instruction manual, images of sales flyers, photos of rigs and links to other sites.

I have one of the orange-tube variety and always grab it, along with my 11x80 binos, whenever I go up to the Sierra Nevada - even if not going there specifically to observe.

Specs from the manual:

EFL 500mm
Clear aperature 140mm (5.5 inches)
f/3.64
Secondary 7.4cm (2.9 inches)
Primary is pyrex
1.25 inch focusser
Near focus: 10.7m (35 feet)
Weight 6.4 lbs.
Tube-length 48cm (19 inches)
Tripod adapter
Black anodized lens cap

Cheers,
Todd
