Hello,

If you havn't had a look through a Pentax Xl 14 you owe it to yourself to try. 68 degree fov, tack sharp, good throughput and the easiest eye positioning of any EP in that focal length that I've tried.

This is a very cool design, I am wondering why you did not use the tent snaps at the upper end as well? Maybe you said in the prior thread but I couldn't find it.

Hello George,

Did you try to get it past security? I have built three carry-on sized dobs and have carrried on all three (on different trips) post 9/11 with no problems. Usually I don't even need to open them up. They also have the eyepieces included in the box. The last one I took to Costa Rica and even the international screeners did not ask me to open it. As long as you are reasonable if they do ask you to open it I think you will have no trouble.

I'm very interested in these comparisons. I've seen photos of bad mirrors to illustrate the technique but never phase contrast photos of what passes for saleable glass. Could you post a photo of the micro-roughness of the photographic filters?

Hello,

That lever thingy is called a de-sta-co clamp available at destaco.com. I think Mcmaster-carr has them, they are also available at woodworking places as work holding clamps. They are great for fairly high force applications.
