MK66 focusing problems

Posted By Aditya Chauhan

Hi There,
everytime I go to touch the focuser knob on my MK66 the entire mirror *flops*. This is not too bad at lower powers but at 180x and above half of the FOV shifts and comes back into view making focusing at high powers impossible. Anyone else have similar issues? Possible Solutions?
Thanks and clear skies!

MK-66 focus issue

Posted By Aditya Chauhan

Every time I go to touch the focuser knob the entire mirror *flops*. This is not too bad at lower powers but at 180x and above half of the FOV shifts and comes back into view making focusing at high powers impossible.
Even if I just touch the focuser, the mirror moves. Each turn of the knob moves the mirror right-to-left significantly. I've tried to move the mirror all the way back and all the way forward thru its entire range of motion, using the focuser knob, but the problem still persists...

The orientation of the telescope does not matter. Whether it be at its zenith all the way up or looking parallel to the horizon, the mirror flops. Collmination is not an issue as I've star tested it and it is textbook both sides of focus.

Any and all help is much appreciated!
