Close to Ordering Hardin 8" Dob

Posted By Dan Rimar

It sounds like a great starter scope. I've read tons of reviews and it sounds like the best for the money. My only problem is the fact that I love to take photos with my digital camera. The cameras I have now- Canon G2 and Canon Pro90IS can only do an 8 sec. exposure. I'm not going to be doing serious astrophotography with these cameras, but would like to take shots of the moon and planets. Can I use a Dob for these types of photos? I would get an adapter for my cameras.. Here's a recent shot (Sunday Night) of the moon with my Pro 90IS and a 1.7x B300 Teleconverter. 1/20 sec. exp. http://home.swfla.rr.com/tarpon6/Img_0982b.jpg

If you have any recommendations.... please do...

Orion Skyview Pro 8 EQ vs. Konus 1793

Posted By Dan Rimar

Has anyone had a chance to compare the 2 scopes? How does the mount, drives, etc. compare. Basically they seem to be the same scope. This question was asked by another member a year ago, but I am hoping for new insight. This would be a first scope for me. Any Other recommedations not over this price range would also be appreciated.

Celestron Ultima Eyepiece compatable with Digi-T?

Posted By Dan Rimar

Last night I had the best view of mars in the 1 month I've owned my scope. I was using my brand new Ultima 10mm eyepiece. I decided to try for a quick photo with my Canon G2 and Digi-T adapter. The digi-t was too small to fit on the 1.25" eyepiece! Has anyone else experienced this? Am I missing something? Is there a work around? I am impressed with the eyepiece for the money and was planning on adding a few more Ultimas to my collection- but if they will not work with the digi-t I might have to look at a different line.. I have used my lesser quality Celestron eyepieces and my standard Meade 26mm 4000 with no problems.

Saturn early this morning.

Well I'm a total newbie, this is the first time I've seen Saturn and Jupiter. I got out the webcam and am pretty pleased with the result. I had the web cam settings off a little (had saturation all the way up and was running at 15 fps) but everything turned out ok.

Meade LX10, toucam pro, registax, photoshop.... Processed about 250 out of 600....
