Hi - New to AM and new to hobby. Please be gentle, I purchased a scope from Mark (THANKS DUDE!)a Intes Micro 66 and I am really troubled by what mount to get. Mark has been really helpful but I want to get some opinions here so...What I am thinking of doin is getting a Meade 5" refractor GOTO setup and switching OTa's around using the autostar unit to help me find stuff. I have been seeing the LXD55 mounts with goto sell here on AM for $500 so another $195 for a scope and a brand new mount dosent sound too bad... what do you think? Don't plan on doin Photo's any time soon.....

OK - Here goes, I'm a newbie, been falling in love with the Mak Newt I got a couple weeks ago, but it dosent seem to have the aperature for the faint fuzzies - So I want to get a TT Dob, I have been lookin at the 14" TScope but I see here on AM that there is a 12.5 Starmaster with a CZ mirror, by the time I get a few extra's on the TScope I'll be in the ballpark of the $$ the guy wants for the Starmaster, is there going to be a big difference between the 2 Scope's? Should I go for the aperture or the legendary CZ? Or maybe get a Swayze 14" Tscope? (all these seem to be in the same dollar range) I wish I could take a look thru some of these but there just is'nt much star party activity goin on where I live...so I am going to rely on the collective wisdom of this forum.....

Just wondering if anyone has gone before me and done all the experimenting, I just got a 20" Starsplitter, with the 35 Pan and a 22 Nagler the balance is off, but no battery yet. I was planning on a 7ah gell cell, would it be better to mount on the fwd or aft bulkhead of the mirror box? Also has anyone mounted another fan for laminar flow? Thanks in advance....

Has anyone used these EP's on a Big Dob? I'm looking for a wide field, low power EP to take in the Veil, Pleadies, North American, etc. I'm still a newbie so any help is appreciated

does anyone have any ideas for making a 20" Truss dob carrier that I can plug into the reciever hitch of my motor home? I'm thinking of a water/weather proof box, with a steel frame, a front door that serves as a ramp for rolling the rockerbox, mirror box and secondary (collapsed) into. I need help with the design in the weatherproofing and able to withstand the 70 mph ride in the motor home areas. A plywood box? Fiberglass? Anybody been down this path before?

Hi - I was hoping for some help regarding my first refractor, I have a 20" Starspitter Dob but I am looking for a quicker setup and some very nice wide field views as well as Lunar/Planetary work - I have been thinking of 3 scopes - the Williams Optics 80 ZSFD and the Orion ED 80 & 100 is there alot of difference between them?

Who's design is that? Where and how much??
