CoolPix 5000 with Celestron NexstarGPS 9.25

Posted By Ted Lucas

Has anyone tried using a Nikon Coolpix 5000 with their Celestron? If so, where do I find the suitable lens adaptor(s)? TIA!

Eyepiece Question

Posted By Ted Lucas

I am the new owner of a Celestron NexstarGPS 9.25" and am having a lot of fun with it so far. How would the forum rate the included Celestron eyepieces (I also purchased the "$99" deal) and what would be a natural progression into better eyepieces? There is such a wide variation in pricing - is more expensive usually better? For an amateur such as I, what should I expect to pay for a decent 25 mm 1.25" eyepiece for my scope? TIA!

Compass Error Correction - NexstarGPS

Posted By Ted Lucas

I live in Chambersburg PA where the compass correction is -10 degrees. How do I correct my Nexstar so that it finds the first alignment star with better precision?

Finder Scope Mount

Posted By Ted Lucas

Are there any suggestions for improving the finder scope mount on my CelestronGPS 9.25" SC? I have thought of securing the rubber gasket-type ring with a rubber adhesive to keep its position a bit more stable. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

First Light w/ Nexstar 11 GPS

Posted By Ted Lucas

Hi James: I too am the new owner of a CelestronGPS scope - only the 9.25" model. I moved up from an old Meade 4" reflector which wasn't all that bad - the tripod and mount, however, were not at all adequate. When you aligned your 11", did you compensate for magnetic variation? I did not do that yet and will have to the next time I'm observing as we have a 10 degree variation here in Chambersburg PA USA. If you did compensate - how exactly did you do it. I looked through the manual and it's a bit vague on this point. TIA!
