Could an expert pl help?

I am new to the hobby & identified the Konus 114 -4.5 ' reflectors.

The choice is between the 500mm vs 900mm focal length versions- simply due to availabilty in my locality here in South Africa & of course the price.

I am not much interested in photography but crave to see deep sky objects .

My understanding is that for a given aperture, shorter focal length is the more suitable for deep sky viewing- ( I know 4.5" ( 114mm is not enough for deep sky)

To complicate matters I saw in website by a dealer of Konus that the 900mm is the more suitable for deep sky stuff.

Which one shd I choose? 500mm or 900mm Konus Reflector?

Help would be greatly appreciated

after thinking took the risk of ordering the 500mm

I'll receive in a few days. Kirbys comment on the mount concerns me.

Since this is my first scope & at the price guess I did the right thing.

Will post when I start stargazing.
Guess I am getting aperture fever even before I set up my first scope.
