Help me chhose the equipment!

Posted By Emanuele Colognato

Hey there!
I need some help since I`m new to the world of telesopes, but not certainly new to astronomy.
I looking for a good scope, mainly for DSO, but looking at planets it never bothers! wink
Anyway, I have my mind set on the LX90, though the price its pretty steep. So, would it be better to buy an OTA, a MOUNT, and whatever stuff is needed, rather than a whole setup in a package?

Say an 8" SCT a good mount for some light photos, eyepieces, and some other stuff! What would you recommend?

THanks a lot
Budget is 1400 including everything!

EMC coating?

Posted By Emanuele Colognato

What is the difference between EMC and UHTC coating?

I have a possible LX90 that I could grab, used, and it has EMC coatings.

Is there any difference between the two?

Thanks!

dew on corrector lens

Posted By Emanuele Colognato

Hello Everyone!!
Beautiful day here in Italy...!
I have a question about the lenses of my LX90.
Yesterday night I was outside very late and I was observing. Didn't have the dew cap...so dew formed quickly...
Now ..I brought the socpe inside with the caps on and put an heavy cloth on it.
This morning I went to check and you can see very very small dots on the lens (corrector lens)?!?!
What are those and what I did wrong? Will they affect the vision...? will they degrade it?
Should I remove them or the dew that will form on the next session will bring those dots away?

I`m worried.

Hard Case for LX90?

Posted By Emanuele Colognato

Hi guys....

I've been having second thoughts about my LX90-UHTC. Basically I've placed an ad and I'm trying to sell it here on Astromart, Although I thought about something:

right now I have it in the original case, would it be better to put it in an HARD CASE? Maybe with wheels?
I'm selling it becuase I feel it is very bulky and not very portable, but maybe with this hard case it would be better.....?

If yes, then whats a very good inexpensive case for it? Also, will I have to remove the Finder scope and align the LX90 every time?

Thanks smile

Sony F717 or not?

Posted By Emanuele Colognato

Guys...I'm thinking to pick up a Sony F717 Camera...

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscf717/

I'll use it for outdoor and for Astrophotography...

is this the right choice or should I get a USED Canon 300D or similar here on Astromart......?

smile

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi guys...

Beside buying the Kendrik Tent which costs a little to much for my taste, what TENT could be used as a foldable observatory?

Should be 2 room. smile

Any ideas?

HELP with Pelican 1650 and LX90!!

Posted By Emanuele Colognato

Heya Guys!

I got a little question for you:

I just got my Pelican 1650 for my LX90 and while I absolutely love the case, I have a slight problem. Basically the LX90 is too tick for the case, so I had to cut out some of the foam that was on the lid; I had to remove some of it to decrease the thickness.

Now, when I go to close the lid, I have to apply, a very light pressure to close it. I can see the lid bending outward just a little. BUt still that means that the OTA touches it.

this is a picture of the lid showing how far open it remains before I have to apply the pressure to close it.

Should I be worried about deforming the OTA? The pressure is not a lot , really.

sad Help! and thanks!

Need help with Accessories..... :)

Posted By Emanuele Colognato

Morning guys....happy AStronomy day to everyone!

smile

I have a question for you and would very much appreciate help:
I'm just starting Astrophotography and yesterday I bought a 300D smile

1 - Is the MaxView DSLR™ Eyepiece Projection Adapters from
scpetronix good? Do I need to pick up any T-rings or something like
that or the MAxview is sufficent?

2 - I don`t have a Wedge. Should I buy one?

3 - What can I use as an AUTOGUIDER? It must be very cheap, because
I'm currently broke and not eating. wink

4 - Should I pick up the Meade Weights Set?

5 - Anything I need to know or should pick up?

Thanks very much and hope to have an answer soon!
