C-8 Disassembly Drawing Wanted!

Posted By Dennis White

I have just purchased a 80,s model Super C-8 to replace my G-5 and I am very concerned with the mirror flop that this scope has. Also this scopes focus is poor even after very meticulous collimation with a Kendrick 2" Laser Collimatior. Very poor resolution of Saturn, Mars and Jupiter with under 15mm eyepiece.

I read in another post about lubing the focuser assembly but without drawings or instructions I am unwilling to remove the rear cell of this scope.

I am very able with electronics and camera optics and have a semi "clean room" to work in but would like advice from someone with C-8 dissembly experience before I try this myself.

Thanks,

Do any of you own a Russel Optics SWA Konig 2" eyepiece and what do you think of it? They do not look like much but I would like to here what others think.

Thanks,
Dennis

Binoviewer Won't Reach Focus

Posted By Dennis White

I am using a Celestron 102GT (500mm f5) with 2" diagonal. I received this scope today with my Burgess Bino, My plan was to install drive on a good sturdy tripod and at some point replace the OTA with a short tube APO. In playing around with this set up I found I could not rack the focuser in far enough to achieve focus with the binos with or without a 2X Barlow. I had expected problems with out the Barlow but not with. With out the Barlow the BBs almost come in to focus just as I run out of in travel and adding the Barlow just seams to make it worse. Is the Burgess 1.5X Relay Lens going to solve this type problem or should I go with my first thought which was to shorten the Optical Tube by 1.5" ?

Any input would be appreciated.

Port Replicators

I'm looking for suggestions on adding Parallel and serial ports to my Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop. I would prefer 2 serial and 1 parallel ports for astrophoto work.

Any input would be welcome,

Dennis
