My treatment from Harry Seibert

Posted By ralph marantino

Two years ago after using "Barlow Bob's Teleview Binoviewer on a 90mm Coronado H-Alpha rig (Teleview Genisis then a Teleview Ti .5Angstrom dual etalon custom scope I decided to buy a Harry Seibert "Black Night"binoviewer from Harry..he answerewd all of my questions over the phone and after receiving promt delivery I was MORE than pleasantly surprised to see no appreciable difference in viewing between the $1,300 Televiews and Harry's product. Now after two years of observing in both my Teleview Genisis SDF with 2 Teleview 8-24 zoom eyepieces and the my Daystar .45Angstrom "T-Scanner and deep sky viewing with my 152mm f8 Astrophysics refractor and a Brandon 94mm f7 refractor I had and accident with the "Black Night" binoviewer..I sent it back to Harry and wow!!he fixed it in two weeks sent it back NO CHARGE and he even ate the postage..if only I could get this kind of response from all of the other vendors that I have used in the past 15 years of Astronomy.Harry produces a great product and his service is tops in my book.

MS40/PST .6A first light

Posted By ralph marantino

First light on my dual stacked PST........... Well for a $1,300.00 outlay..the contrast on surface filamentary detail was better than my Daystar .65 ATM and it was a lot easier to "tune in" surface features and "zoom in" on specific filaments..I found that using the Teleview zoom eyepiece 12mm gave the best overall view and after putting on a Teleview SolSearcher it was easier to keep centered..I did not find a "sweet spot" the whole disk view was equally detailed and contrasty all in all this new technology is really great..the scope may not be as impressive as the 152mm Astrophysics with 2 feet of "optical train" hanging in the back with a hand grenade 31mm type 5 Nagler in the 2 inch diagonal but boy the pleasure of the
convieniance shure outweighs everything else it looks like my retirement just got bumped up a notch all of you cll I was just out for 45 minutes with the .6A MS40/PST and it way exceeded my expectations foran share at Jersey Starquest or the Summer Starparty in Savoy..

T-Max Tuner

Posted By ralph marantino

8) I started to play with the t-max tuner on my MS40/PST and wow was I ever able to "tune in" some fantastic filamentary detail not previously observed even with a dual stacked 90mm I guess that practice makes perfect how many out there are seeing a significant difference when "tuning" the front tilt mechanism????

70mm Calcium K first light

Posted By ralph marantino

grin Well Barlow Bob arrived yesterday and we had 2 hours of bright clear Sunshine to try out the new scope, surprise surprise with the implants in my eyes from cataract surgery a lot more blue light is passed thru and I saw as much detail on the Solar disk as in any previous photo of the Sun at 393.4 Nanometers wow and though I was never that impressed with CEMAX eyepieces in h-alpha light BOY what o difference they make in Calcium K Line I would estimate a 30% gain in contrast and detail over a 26mm Tele Vue Plossl that I tried> Barlow Bob also saw quite a bit more than he expected visually way more than we saw at NEAF last spring. As expected the fit and finish of the scope is superb I like the helical fine focus I trhink that it would have been better with an 18mm CEMAX for image scale than with the supplied 25mm eyepiece. I am ordering an 18mm CEMAX for my forthcoming PST CaLK which Barlow Bob is getting he feels the capabilites of the 70mm Maxscope are better served visually with my "bionic" eyeballs so he generously is letting me keep the 70mm scope ..what a guy..I am going to set up the Stellacam the next clear day disregard the photo its the wrong one and I could not delete it

Bobs Knobs for a Starmaster Dobsonian

Posted By ralph marantino

8) Bob Morrow of Bobs Knobs really went all out fitting me up with a set of 4 secondary mirror collimation screws. He made them a small diameter so as not to intrude into the light path of my old style 14.5 inch and as my scope was the First Starmaster that he ever did he was an extra cooperative vendor.Bob has me measure the pitch of the threads and take some pictures of the existing screws he even called Rick to cooberate the sizes.I feel that for all the work he did including sending me 3 size lenghts of collimation knobs to try before he made me up 2 sets(one for my friend Bill's 14.5) to try and he is charging me a small fee for all of his extra work.It is so gratifying to get such service from anyone these days. Thanks Bob.
