Montes Pyrenaeus

Here is a picture of the the Pyrenees on the moon taken with my new scope. Not bad for the conditions here in Kentucky tonight. This is the first time I have been able to catch the moon with my new scope!

Is a 2" EP system overkill for my Nexstar 5?

Title asks it all. There's so much fun looking 2" stuff...but will it make a difference. I mostly do afocal digital photography. Thanks!

CG-5 or Skyview Pro???

Posted By Jake Myers

I just got an Orion ED80 scope and it came with a Skyview Pro mount. After I get my digital SLR in a couple of weeks, I am going to want to get started in deep sky photography. Does the SVP mount perform well enough to handle this task? Is the CG-5 any better? Are there better mounts in the price range? I really appreciate your responses. Thanks!

Jupiter Variations

I did some playing around with exposure times and speeds on my Coolpix 4300/Orion ED 80 setup. Here are the images of Jupiter taken 04/27/04:

I'm quite impressed with this scope! It's the first scope I've had where I could actually see the shadow cast by Io last night.

Good Nights!
