Digital Camera Question - Please

Posted By Larry Harrison

Does a Digital Camera utilize a "Remote Release for a Cable Port" that a regular SLR camera does?

If so,which ones?

If so, does it utilize the cable that my SLR uses, or do I have to buy a special cable?

Many thanks, Larry

Focal Reducer Question - Please

Posted By Larry Harrison

Can a focal reducer be used on an LXD55 6" Schmidt-Newtonian Reflector? From what I can see, the 6.3 and the 3.3 focal reducer is to be used on Schmidt-Cassagrains.

I was desiring the pair to be used with the Meade LPI.

They reduce the focal lengths ... correct? The shorter the length, the less magnification from the LPI ... correct?

All in all, can I use the reducers?

Thanks, Larry

I am thinking about buying the new 840 version Does the cam fit over an eyepiece or must you remove the eyepiece?

Can one also use a focal reducer?

Thanks, Larry

SACIV-C Questions

Posted By Larry Harrison

I am thinking about getting the SACIV-C.

Questions:

1) Will this work on WindowsXP?

2) Can I utilize my eyepieces for the telescope with this unit (eyepiece projection)?

3) If I do not desire to shoot color at this time (just b/w), is this alright?

4) Is the Help Manual on the camera friendly (easy to understand)?

Many thanks to you.

Just Bought ETX-90 - Educator Discount

Posted By Larry Harrison

Hi:

Just a heads up. I bought an ETX-90 today at Discovery Store. The ETX has the special lens coating plus the tripod 884. The going price was $495 (not the normal $595). On top of that I received 15% off due to an educators discount. So I then went ahead and bought the hand control #497 also 15% off.

If you happen to be in education, think about your discount.

Have a good day.

LXD55 6"SN Case?

Posted By Larry Harrison

Hi:

I just bought and received an LXD55 SN 6" scope. What case (hard or soft) could I use for the OTA? There doesn't seem to be one around. I saw for JMI for the 8" and 10" (or could I possibly use the 8" for the JMI. Or could I use one of the soft cases for Orion (but which one?).

Anyone with any ideas?

Thanks, Larry

Can I utilize the Meade 8 x 50mm ViewFinder for my Meade ETX-90 Telescope or would I have to do modifications?

MeadePictor 208XT and 216XT Cameras

Posted By Larry Harrison

Hi:

Can the above mentioned cameras be used on the LXD55 6" SN or the ETX-90 scopes? I understand that it cannot be used as an autoguider (for LX series only??). I just desire to have a ccd camera not as an autoguider (unless I can use it that way).

Thanks, Larry

Invitation to New Webring

Posted By Larry Harrison

So many times I have desired to find tutorials on astrophotography. Many sites are not on a search engine - mainly to the cost. I have opened up a new WebRing to localize the sites into one.

It is called Astrophotography Tutorials.

To sign up (I am hoping) go to: http://dir.webring.com/rw

Go to Science/Astronomy/Astrophotography

Short summary: This is a ring intended for those who have an
interest in astrophotography, whether through the usage of film, digital, or ccd cameras. If your interest lies in the field of astrophotography, and you have a tutorial, or you just have a desire to learn astrophotography, this ring is for you.

Hope you join. Thanks.
