I sincerely like him as a candidate. I followed the Primaries very closely.

However, I think he is a not Presidential material.

We'll see though. I didn't think Bush was either except that he had the right men as his cabinet and I trusted them.
(Powell, Cheney, etc).

I read this thread and must say, a lot of people are commenting without knowing much about the case.

1) She had an eating disorder that caused a chemical imbalance (Vit K, Pottasium) in her system resulting in Heart failure. Her husband came home 5 minutes after it happened and called an ambulance.
2) The ambulance came but failed to diagnosis her Potassium defficiency. Their life saving efforts were foiled until they uncovered it. Unfortunately, her brain was without O2 for too long and brain damage occurred.
3) Her husband stated for years that she would not want to die, claimed in court that he was going to Nursing school to learn how to care for her, won $1,000,000 in damages because of #2 above.
4) One week later, he put her in a cheap hospice and starting dating other women soon afterwards. He even dated one of the CNA's at the hospice his wife was in.
5)Doctors claim she has a flat EEG but an MRI was never done.
6)She seems to respond to stimulus. She laughs, grunts in an attempt to communicate, cries (like now when hungry). Or so, this is what is being reported.
7) Her husband has been common law married to another woman for 10 years now and has 2 children with the new woman.
8)Her parents plea that she is a Christian and thus would go to hell if it were believed these were her wishes (to commit suicide in this condition) is a new twist in an effort to formulate new arguments to present to the court. Common practice really, we tried a, b and c and none of them worked. Let's try d.
9)The $1,000,000 is almost gone. Only $40,000 left according to the husbands lawyers.
10)All congress and Jeb Bush were really asking was to have the medical tests (EEG and MRI) done to verify the old ones from years ago. Until this can be scheduled, start feeding her again. Why? Because at this point (7 days) into starvation, even YOUR EEG and MRI would show your mental capacity severely diminished.

The really sad part in all this is simply that no one is willing to put their political arse on the line to ensure that a new EEG and MRI is actually done.

The argument between the parents and the husband (that already moved on long ago) is that she does respond and isn't brain dead. The old EEG may have showed her in a coma 10 years ago, but do a new one... she isn't in a coma anymore.

They present evidence like "she will follow a balloon around the room with her eyes, everytime" sounds a little compelling to me.

If the husband really wants closure, divorce her.

It's not my place to judge anyone involved but it's hard to see something like this happening and not have an emotional response to it.

I honestly can't remember where in the bible it actually says suicide is a sin.

It's just been so long since I actually read the darn thing.

But, it is taking a life and hence is murder. The bible doesn't really use the terms murder and suicide and you shouldn't get caught up in them. Killing a human is a sin. Plain and simple.

If it counts for anything, I can remember one place, the 10 commandments.

Of course, it also says to "honor your mother and father" in there and I'm still waiting for my kids to do that.

There are plenty of good scopes out there readily available and...

you'll have a chance to actually use them before your...
a) eyesight goes bad from old age
b) eligible for Social Security but it isn't around anymore so your broke and can't pay for it anyway
c) DEAD!

I'm sure they are very nice scopes but unless you know for sure that you have offspring interested in inheriting it...
