My pop lives on 35 acres of land outside of Ridgeway (on Log Hill mesa). Absolutely gorgeous sky there. Nearest two towns are Montrose, population about 13-14 thousand and about 30 miles away, and Ridgeway, population about 2,000 and probably 15 miles away.

Theres zero light pollution from Ridgeway and the only time you can see any from Montrose is if there are clouds over it.

I'm heading out there in a week or two, hopefully I can manage to actually purchase a telescope before I go.

How about the best planetary setup (new or used, including mount/tripod) with a max price of around $1500-2000? Anything in particular I should be keeping my eye out for in that price range?

Has anyone seen one of these yet? Doesn't seem like they're available yet, and I haven't seen that much in the way of hard data.

A used 11" GPS was one of the things on my list of potential purchases but it seems like they're going for around 2,200+ lately, which doesn't seem like that stellar of a deal if the CPC is 2600 new (or less, my local Celestron dealer occasionally discounts off the MSRP). Assuming that there isn't some issues with the CPC that makes it significantly less desirable than a GPS.
