I think I need to get my Tasco 4 1/2" mirror re aluminized. Being that this is not an expensive instrument, I don't want to spend a lot of money.

Can anybody recommend a low cost recoating service?

The main reason Meade sells these warranties is because they need to. Many folks do not trust the reliability of Meade's products, so they must rely on the "assurance".

Electronics / NiMH charging question

Go to one of the Model airplane radio control boards ( i.e. rcuniverse.com). They have experts discussing proper charging and maintenance of NiMh batteries ) and other types) for battery powered planes. I am not an expert, but being a model flyer, I have an MRC brand "SuperBrain" charger for my electric plane. It senses voltage, current, resistance, and charges NiMh batteries correctly.

An EBAY store by the name of Telescope Warehouse has what you need. "Scopehead" has a brand new secondary mirror in a spider assembly for ten bucks.
