Lasers for shutting down streetlamps

Posted By Harvey Carr

I have a 2 AAA battery powered red laser that I bought about 5 years ago and replaced the batteries about 2 or 3 times. I was out in my truck one night and decided to see if I could knock out my parental units streetlight in front of their house. I aimed the laser at the little round jobby on the top of the light and it went out. I tried a couple of months ago when we set my dads scope up to get it working but it would not go out so I went to the location I was at when I first did it and it went out. So if you can see what looks like a photo cell on the light or pole and try a laser try it at differant locations and angles. I also have a very large and bright light against the wall from the CITY HALL parking lot next door to me. I made a shield that I attach to a wooden pole and an old tripod leg to block it out. But a street light is quite a bit higher but 10 foot 1/2 inch pvc pipe is real cheap and you can get couplers to slide a couple together and put up a shade and remove it when done.
