Newbie question for Astromart fees

Posted By Chris Palacios

Hello,

I'm preparing to put up my first classifed and am new to astromart. Is there a fee schedule? Maybe it is right in front of my face (where I usually miss things! LOL), but what does it cost to place an ad?

Kind Regards,

Chris

A question from a "newbie" about Naglers (probably

Posted By Chris Palacios

Hello,

I just recently jumped to a large
aperture dobsonian, having just

acquired an 18" Obsession. I have

been collecting eyepieces here on

Astromart for a little while now and

have, what is probably the stupidest

question ever asked--it will only

betray how green I am when it comes to

the "big stuff" smile (I've never owned

a Nagler, or any big, expensive ep).

On the 9mm & 12mm Naglers there is a 1

& 1/4 barrel to insert in the scope,

and in a little further, a 2" barrel.

The 2" has a little screw in it's side

that is tightened onto the 1 & 1/4

part. What is the screw for? How do

you use the 2" part for viewing since

the 1 & 1/4 part is in the way? Is

the 2" supposed to be used for

viewing, or is that just the way they

taper down to the 1 & 1/4? It just

seems to me that these ep's would be

2" & not 1 & 1/4--especially the

12mm. Is the 1&1/4 part removable?

Ok, I asked more than one question,

but I hope you get the jest of my

ignorance and can shed some light for

us little ep guys--it looks like some

kind of add-on for 1&1/4" scopes, but

I can't figure it out, and don't want

to venture taking apart an ep without

knowing what I'm doing. I'm sure

y'all will be laughing when you read

this wink , but you've got to ask

sooner or later--I'll go for sooner.

Kind Regards,

Chris Palacios

Naglers, telescopes, and selling

Posted By Chris Palacios

Hello,

I am in a bind and would like your advice. I own an 18" f/4.5 Obsession with some extras on it. I also have a case with some accessories (sp?), including my sad Naglers sad . A desperate financial situation has forced me to sell my Obsession. I know that the rule of thumb is that a person sells the scope but keeps his/her EP's. However, finances are forcing me to sell all (I literally cried when I realized I had to sell)

Here is the question: Would it be better to sell everything together, or would it bring in more money if I sold the telescope seperately and each EP seperately (or EP's together)? I can't even begin to tell you how despondent I am about this. I planned on keeping this telescope my whole life while collecting other EP's & other sky-goodies, but I can't--and the outlook appears to be that I won't be able to for a long time.

I'd appreciate your opinion. I apologize if I'm on the wrong forum--I couldn't find one that quite matched, but since I love my telescope and EP's, I thought it might be appropriate.

Kind Regards,

Chris

Blow dryers, cold air, & primary mirror

Posted By Chris Palacios

Hello,

This may sound like the stupidest question, but would there be a problem with taking a blow dryer, placing on low, cool air, and using it to blow fine dust off of the primary mirror?

Thanks,

Chris

Some sellers are soo funny!

Posted By Chris Palacios

I laughed so hard when I read your post--it is so true!! This isn't related to astromart, but I thought you might find it funny:

I used to work for a car sales magazine called the Auto Trader (Trader Magazines). One day I went to this guy's house to take a picture of his VW bug for his classified ad. When I arrived, he was asleep and his car was nowhere to be found. After several knocks the guy comes out and pushes his car out of his garage, the car being covered with thick, dried mud. The passenger side had a HUGE smashed side, from tire to tire and about halfway into the passenger seat, and NO door. So the guy tells me to take a picture of the good side so that people couldn't see the dent in the picture (yes, he really can do that)!!! I asked him if he really believed that people would come out and buy his car NOT knowing that it was totaled (his ad read: "needs work" LOL). He just gave me a blank look, paid me and walked back into the house.

I couldn't stop laughing as I drove away and pictured someone driving all the way out to his house to look at a car that they didn't know was thrashed, and the fury that they would rain upon him for his dishonest ad!!

Peace,

Chris
