Re: If they made it, would you buy it?

The short answer is no.

I think it's pretty natural to gravitate toward a wider FOV as EP focal length increases. That means that for most of us there are better choices for lower power views.

Re: Incompetent Chickenhawks Lead Us

You conspiracy guys slay me. You disbelieve anything that doesn't agree with your philosophy and then turn around and buy some story "hook line and sinker" from a guy who's hawking a book.

Mr. Berntsen's account may be true, or on the other hand it may just be a blatant attempt to sell books to conspiracy theorists.

What's wrong with this picture???

EP for f10 refractor

Posted By Gary Elore

For your 2" diagonal, the William Optics enhanced coatings version is a very good choice at just slightly above your $100. target price.

They are rated very highly in any reviews I've read. The only problem is that they are more or less hard to come by used. I take that as a good sign, indicating that few who buy them are willing to part with them.

You can buy them through Anacortes.

BTW the Dielectric version is on sale for about $40. more than the "standard" version. If you can swing it financially - in my book the dielectric is a no brainer at $169.

Collimating a laser collimator

Posted By Gary Elore

Anthony;

You are probably going to have to know how to collimate it yourself anyway. I have a similar unit from Owl Services and had problems with the collimation changing when I removed the two end plugs to change the batteries.

It takes some patience to get it right, but if you're a patient guy, I'm sure you can get it done.

I've included a photo of a stand I knocked together from scrap wood. Seemed to work pretty well.

You could try this product. No experience with it personally. Just happened to run across it while browsing.

EP Cleaning Question

Posted By Gary Elore

The link below is considered by some to be the difinitive answer to eyepiece cleaning. I tried it and can say that it works pretty well.

Make sure you use the specific ingredients it calls for and follow the directions closely.

Hope it helps
