JMI MiniMax Pinout Help

Posted By David Raeburn

I recently purchased a JMI MiniMax DSC system off AstroMart and am about to install it on my Dob. I am missing one 5 pin encoder plug to RJ11 female jack adapter. I was going to use the other one as a guide to make a couple new ones but after looking it over it seems to me that channels A and B are backwards. Each ALT and AZ male RJ11 jack that comes from the computer unit has four (4) colored wires in it (yellow, green, red, and black). Can anyone tell me which colour is associated with which pin on the encoder. I have a schematic of the US Digital encoders and the pin values.

Thanks in advance,

Dave.

Does anybody have any information about a company called Chicago Optical and Supply and a scope they produced called the 150 DX. I believe it was a 150mm newt.

Thanks,

Dave.

Secondary dew heater

Posted By David Raeburn

Hi Marty,

I was looking for a secondary heater to put on my 10" SkyWatcher Dob with a stalk type secondary holder also. I contacted Kendrick and Jim replied that shortly they will be introducing a new style heater element for this type of holder. It will be of an eliptical shape with a hole in the centre and split at one end so that it can be slipped around the stalk type holder without having to remove the secondary mirror. In the meantime I constructed a heater element like Andy mentioned using the basic concepts as the telrad heater in the link I've provided. I also constructed one for my telrad and they both work great.

Good luck,

Where can I get a Digital Encoder kit for my dob

Posted By David Raeburn

Steve:

I am in the process of installing DSC's on my Dob and ran into the same problem as you're having. I had to make some encoder ready 1/2" bolts and "T" nut plates and have some spares. Leave your email address and I'll send you a pic with the details.

Dave.
