solar projection scope

Posted By Roger Coleman

I would like to build a solar projection scope to use with my young son along the lines of the Solarscope ($60, but built of cardboard) or the Sun Spotter (nice wood construction but at $330 a bit pricey). Does anyone know of any available specifications or plans to build one?

Meade Research Grade Orthos

Posted By Roger Coleman

I notice that Meade research grade orthos are going for $95 here on Astromart. Are they really so good that a used 20 year-old eyepiece would command a higher price than a new University Optics HD or classic ortho?

Something wrong with eyepiece

Posted By Roger Coleman

I recently purchased an eyepiece here on AstroMart. Upon inspection I noticed it has what appears to be hundreds of little flecks on the inside of the optics. They look kind of like tiny little stress fractures that you see in plastics. I also see some opaque regions around the edge. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
Thanks,
Roger

I am looking around for a lens spanner wrench. I was wondering what people are using out there and what they would recommend.

Orion Stratus Discontinued?

Posted By Roger Coleman

I notice that the Orion Website lists only 3 focal lengths of their Stratus line. No indication that the others are out of stock or backordered. Have they been discontinued? They seemed popular and must have been a good seller. Anyone know what's up?

Selling NEAF blem eyepieces

Posted By Roger Coleman

I bought a NEAF blem eypiece here on Astromart a while back. It was advertised as such and offered a a good price. I'm quite happy with it, although it does have that annoying little mark on it wink
