Re: Decoration Stencil

I have a friend that owns an advertising agency and another that does vinyl lettering... both use a plotter to cut their vinyl especially on more complex designs... your artwork must be in a line art format and you should be able to take it to about anybody that does vinyl lettering and either have the logo or a screen cut from vinyl. My experience has been that if it is not in a line format that a plotter can cut, you will have to pay them for their time to turn it into line art and that's the most expensive part... the plotting is cheap. ---George

ATWB supporting our troops

Posted By George Sheets

I ran across classified ad #307974. Just wanted to say that you folks at ATWB are AWESOME and will be my first choice for future purchases. Thanks for supporting our troops. I personally have 2 friends in Iraq right now and have 6 employees with immediate family(sons/daughters) there. We take for granted our freedom and the things they are fighting for and I am all for anything we can do to keep them safer or make their tour of duty easier.
Thanks --George Sheets

The Proper use of a Newtonian Telescope.

personally, I think this guy may be smarter than any of us... he is really getting ready to watch the girl across the street who will never suspect the scope is being used as an "eye" in the back of his head... 8) ---GS

I surrendered to THE DARK SIDE...

Posted By George Sheets

I've done a lot of construction work but have never built an observatory so I am by no means any kind of an expert. Thinking about this a bit, these sheds are really flimsy without the roof so a couple things I was thinking... if you're going to do a rolloff why not build an interior wood frame in the corners and top plate and attach the walls to it... this should stiffen it up and actually create an area to insulate it... and one more totally off the wall idea... how about incorporating the sliding doors into the roof? it would take a little creativity to weatherproof it and a few extra metal siding panels but I think it would work. You could buy a small steel entry door and frame up an opening where the door was supposed to go. ---George

Skylight observatory-Info. Anyone done one?

Posted By George Sheets

Wayne, I have installed several operable skylights but have never seen one that was designed to open all the way. Thinking back how most are designed I would say that most can have the stops removed/modified to open further. There are also several manufacturers out there that build custom lights and glass enclosures. If you can afford it you could have one built. The biggest problem I see is that your roof is more than likely constructed with trusses that are 2ft on center and you would only end up with a finished opening 20" or so wide which seems to me would greatly limit your viewing.

Home Observatories location

looks to me like Herb did a little reorganizing and has things in alphabetical order rather than by posts(I think that's how it was)... suits me just fine because it got the philosophy and religion forum further away from the stuff I'm interested in and I'm less tempted to go in there and read... although it can be somewhat entertaining at times... would be nice to have this forum back in the top section though as I like to follow some of these posts. ----George

Shipping Problems Using USPS Global Priority

I ship to Germany quite a bit... no matter how I send, it takes 30-45 days... the hold up is customs. You just have to live with it.
